It feels like spring! Even if only for a couple days. The first batch of ice cream of the season has been churned. And since been blended into a cookies and cream milkshake. My skin is wrinkling at the corner of my eyes and my lips are stretched far across my face. Ahhh, it’s getting warmer outside! I’m all smiles. Since things are heating up around here, it’s time to do some celebrating with a giveaway.
Clink! Cheers! Holler! I’m giving away 3 copies of Malts & Milkshakes. Filled with 60 recipes that will make your belly happy this season. True story, I’ve never been the best milkshake maker. Maybe it’s the loads of ice I’ve been adding to the blender? Let’s just say I now know how to make a good milkshake. With greek yogurt on top—my new weird but good addition. Autumn uses sour cream in her recipes, which got me thinking. Greek yogurt has a similar tang with a couple extra health benefits, hopefully counteracting all that cream.
To enter to win a copy of Malts and Milkshakes: Leave a comment telling me the milkshake or ice cream flavor you’ve been craving recently. Let’s face it, you don’t have to be pregnant to have cravings.
The fine print: Giveaway provided by my friends at St. Martin’s Press. Ends Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 12 am EST. Winner will be chosen at random using random.org and announced Thursday, April 18. Available to residents of planet earth only.

I have been really craving a MnM blizzard from Dairy Queen! I’m pretty sure that’s a milkshake, but if it doesn’t count then I’d say a chocolate milkshake!
Just a simple, chocolate malt sounds amazing right now. I love chocolate. I love malt. So the two combined are one of my favorite things ever, and I’m not even big on cold treats [I’d prefer a brownie most days]. 🙂
Hummm. Favorite milkshake. That’s tough. That’s like asking me what my favorite chocolates are. There are so many! When overwhelmed with options, I don’t mess around. I just go for the straight-up classics – chocolate, vanilla, strawberry. BUT, if I was trying something new – say, out of this snazzy milkshake book of deliciousness, I’d start on the first recipe and sip my way through. xo
I have been wanting a tropical flavor milkshake with pineapple, coconut, strawberry and macadamia nuts. I’ve never tried one before but saw it on a menu once!
This is kind of cheating. I did a class at Autumn’s Hotcakes store in Seattle when my book came out (we both love desserts tucked into jars), and I have to say all of her milkshakes are amazing. Salted caramel bourbon would be my flavor vote.
every spring when the weather really starts to warm up, i crave strawberry milkshakes! just a taste brings up so many wonderful memories of being a carefree child in the summertime.
I love fresh pineapple milkshakes. Or really any fresh fruit milk shakes. Yum! It’s still kind cool where I am at, but I am anxiously awaiting ice cream weather, although to be honest cold weather doesn’t necessarily deter me from ice cream. 😉
I’ve been just craving something with cream and sugar all week! Mint sounds good at the moment. And thank you for saying Greek yogurt is similar to sour cream! I buy the plain and eat it for breakfast, the other night my husband thought I was gross for putting a dab on my tacos. (Not gross… right? Or wrong? Haha)
Newman O’s cookies with mint, frozen yogurt, and spirulina is possibly one of the most delicious (and healthier) milkshakes I’ve ever consumed! Cookies and cream with peanut butter doesn’t sound too bad either…
I like crazy flavor combinations in my milkshakes, but for me, the ultimate milkshake is just a good old fashioned chocolate milkshake. It doesn’t get any better than that!
I am definitely NOT pregnant, but when I was I had a Moose Tracks milkshake every day! They were yummy! Since it has started warming up, I have been craving them!
I love a good batido made with milk and tropical fruit. so let’s just thicken it and create a shake. I could happily go for mango, passionfruit, papaya, or mora (Andean blackberry).
This looks killer! All I need is some warm weather and I am so making this! Heck, what I am saying? The warm weather may never come. I am making this tonight!
All the suggestions above sound yummy, but I want to try something different this year. Sweet Potato Souffle ice cream would be a sweet potato base with caramelized pecan pieces and miniature marshmallows. A little reminder of a favorite holiday side is welcome anytime of year.
God, that is drool-worthy. My favorite milkshake has got to be the salted caramel milkshake I tasted at The Alamo in Austin, TX. I was there for the SXSW film festival and I seriously started considering choosing my films by whether or not they were playing at the Alamo.
My favorite milkshake is from the dairy booth at the Minnesota State Fair. They have an apple cinnamon milkshake that just tastes like liquid apple pie. It’s glorious.
My all time fave is Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey, possibly misspelled since I don’t take the time to read the label, I just eat the entire container if I can get away with it!
I’ve been dying for a mocha fudge shake from Johnny Rockets since the weather has warmed up. Also, the Counter’s apple pie milkshake (with real apple pie chunks!) sounds divine
Your pictures make me want to stomp around and cry until someone brings me one! I guess I’ll have to wait until I get off work :(. Boo. I love your idea of topping the milkshakes with Greek yogurt – perfecto!
I’ve gotta go with Margaret’s comment above – Deep, rich Chocolate! There’s just nothing in the store that has the chocolate flavor down – too many other ingredients!
