I don’t care much for baby carrots anymore. I ate them nearly every day at lunch for a solid year. Pretty sure it was the longest year of my life. Have you ever chewed one of those baby carrots? It takes about 5 minutes per carrot. And I always seemed to pack at least 10. That must equal about 4 whole carrots. Those little guys are deceptively dense and far more compact than any normal carrot. And their shape—it’s just a little too perfect. My hands used to turn orange during that time. It all makes sense now. I was eating wayyyy too many carrots.
After a two year hiatus, I started buying whole carrots, peeling them, and chopping to a normal width. I like carrots again. I eat them with my lunch, and it only takes me 5 minutes total. I’m not sure why I’m telling you this. Maybe it’s for the person forcing themselves to eat dense carrots. Be set free! Or maybe I’ve been writing far too much over the last couple of days to have anything substantial to say.
To hear more about my #lunchproblems, check out my post over at Mint today. It comes with a solution—a Turkey Balsamic Wrap recipe.

That looks really good! But when I clicked on the link to get to the recipe it gave me an error message 🙁
So funny. I feel your chew. I gave up carrots years ago and still shun them. 😉
I always thought I was crazy for thinking baby carrots were too dense and pretty heavy going; thank you for making me realise that I’m not alone!
Ugh. “Yuppie carrots” is how they are commonly referred to at home. Such a strange waste to produce something so strangely wet and small. Turkey wrap sounds awesome!
Beautiful lighted shot 🙂

This is why I generally buy plain old carrots! That sandwich looks like a perfect quick lunch. 🙂
I love balsamic on anything, what a perfect lunch!
I saw a documentary on how they produce baby carrots (it was a dutch show) and what struck me was the waste that was produced. Taking regular sized carrots and shaving them down to baby carrots uses quite a bit of energy, water and results in mounds of scraps.
I do still buy them from time to time, because making school lunches each morning is such a chore.
Hehe, I saw that one too I think. There is no such thing as a baby carrot, it’s identical to the big stuff, only in tiny portions that double your ecological footprint!
I preeeeetty much want this now.
