Ingredients
Scale
- 2 parts water
- 1 part tomato paste
- dash of dried oregano
- pinch of kosher salt
- Optional Add-ins
- dash of basil
- dash of thyme
Instructions
- In a small bowl combine ingredients.
- Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.
You may remember this no-rise pizza crust or this make-ahead Neapolitan-style dough. Here’s the simple, pantry pizza sauce I use to top most every pizza, unless we’re going pesto (which is equally awesome). If I had to guess, you probably have everything sitting in your pantry—tomato paste + water + a couple seasonings. Don’t let the ease deter you. A couple light swirls of a pastey tomato sauce is perfection beneath fresh mozzarella. A little goes a long way in my pizza-loving opinion.

Too funny! I was just browsing the Uncommon Goods website yesterday! I’d love to get the budha mug and maybe some of the porcelain plates (like the birch set! So perfect for blog photos!).
By the way, I’m so glad you came up with a tomato paste-based pizza sauce because I sometimes randomly want to make pizza, and while you can throw together a crust with pantry items, I rarely have canned tomatoes to make pizza sauce, but I always have a tube of tomato paste! This totally solves my problem and saves me a trip to the store 🙂
