It doesn’t matter what your relationship status says on Facebook. It gets complicated on Valentine’s Day. So many unspoken hopes. Too many unmet expectations. I hope he brings home that bottle of wine I’ve been eying and the movie I never told him I wanted to see. Surely he can read my mind by now. Especially on Valentine’s Day.

Creamsicle Cocktail | @thefauxmartha

Despite its long standing place in our relationship, mind reading has never really worked for us. And articulating exactly what I want feels wrong and a little bit needy. So I’m adopting a new mantra for those high pressure days and keeping our relationship status set to happily married. “Three words for you. Treat. Yo. Self. ” —Parks and Recreation (Click link for video reference.)

That bottle of wine. Treat yourself. Creamy pink cocktails. Treat yourself. Gold scissors from Target. Treat yourself. Crepe paper flower craft time. Treat yourself. Flowers and cocktails. Treat. Yo. Self.

I’m going to treat myself to a creamsicle cocktail—naturally pink and dairy-free. The Seven Daughters Moscato wine brings the sweetness. A squeeze of blood orange brings the color. The coconut milk brings the creaminess without screaming coconut. A hit of orange liquor for flavor and vodka for zing. It’s as smooth as all your Valentine’s Day hopes and dreams.

Make it. Shake it.

Happy Valentine’s Day friends! I hope you treat yourself.
