We made it to Maryland late last night after a 40 mile detour and 15 minutes of stopage time. Our GPS froze and a light went out on the back of our car. A nice cop let us know. Did I mention Starbucks closed 5 minutes before closing time. It was a long night. But at 2 am we pulled up to my grandmas house. My apologies—I’m late on The Food Matters Project this week. But I had an important announcement to make. Since then, the cupcakes have been eaten. And the excitement has turned into fears. Fears of renting our place out. Fears of finding a job. Fears of failing. Fears of landing a good place to live. A place with a gas stove. With laundry. With character. And lots of light. The details are weighing on us. And trusting is hard. Trusting that we’re headed exactly where we’re supposed to go. But I’ll try. And I’ll try again tomorrow. And the next day. Every year we alternate. It’s a little tradition from our college dating days. This year it’s his turn to plan Valentine’s Day. Let’s hope I’ve dropped the necessary hints. Such a dangerous statement. Today he told me he was going to make me dinner from scratch. Usually I’d be jumping off the walls excited. However, I bet him a made-from-scratch dinner a month ago.
