A couple weeks ago, we had friends over for the first time since moving to Connecticut. It was monumental. I had been putting it off for weeks. Things still felt a little out of place. My desk area was a disaster. And our kitchen still looked too tiny to prepare a meal for more than two. But we did it. We christened it. And now it feels like home. Read More
Where do you find your worth? Last night thoughts of high school flooded my memory. With them came a slight pang in my stomach. I pictured my 16 year old self, wandering around, hoping someone would notice me. Really—hoping a cute boy would notice me. Awkwardness. Uncertainty. Ample mascara. And a spray of Gap’s perfume Dream. Those were not the days.
Last week when I launched my new site, I couldn’t tell you the full story. Like who did the backend of my site, because goodness knows I didn’t do it. Well, the secret is out. I’ve been in cahoots with another food blogger. You probably know her—Erin of Naturally Ella. She is brilliant, incredibly patient, and does beautiful work. She made my site come to life. I’m happy to announce that we are going into business together! I’d like to introduce you to Wooden Spoons Kitchen. We create logos, define brands, and design websites for bloggers and small businesses. We even offer hosting. I’ll let you read all about it on our new site. Read More
Roasted pumpkin purée makes all the difference. Preheat oven to 325°. Wash sugar pumpkin clean. Cut three 1-inch slits in the pumpkin to allow it to breath. Add pumpkin and an inch of water to a shallow pan. Bake for about an hour or until pumpkin is soft. Cool completely. Peel and discard seeds. Mash pumpkin meat and store covered in the refrigerator, or measure out 1-cup bags and store in freezer.
I feel like I’ve just moved from an apartment to a cute little house with a backyard and a garage. There’s no landlord here. I can paint the walls whatever color I want. And upgrade the kitchen to fit my needs. Moving over to wordpress.org is a dream come true. My advice—make the switch if you haven’t already. Read More
And we’re live with a brand new site! I’m high on adrenaline. 4 hours of sleep for a girl that requires at least 8. Last night felt like Christmas Eve. I kept peeking around the corner to see if Santa had dropped in yet. He came early this morning. I was sleep deprived but oh so giddy. The front end doesn’t look all that different, but the backend surely does. I’ll tell you next week who helped me with the site. It’s a fun little secret I’ve been keeping. Have a click around. I’m still updating portions of the site so things may look a little weird the next couple of days. Let me know if something seems super off. In the meantime—let’s play.

This post is a bittersweet one. Bitter because this is the last post on this blogging platform, wordpress.com. We’ve been together almost 4 years now. But sweet because I’m getting a brand new shiny site. Read more details at the bottom of the post, like what to expect and how to keep receiving updates, etc. Things are a changing. For the better.
