If there’s one dirty dish I hate cleaning most, it’s a cheesy one. Hot water and a scrub brush just mean melted cheese shmeared everywhere. It’s counterintuitive, but turn your water temp to icy cold when cleaning cheesy dishes. The cheese will harden. Then trade your scrub brush for a pan scraper and scrape off the hardened cheese. Resume normal cleaning methods once all signs of cheese are gone.

I just found your tip on how to clean the mozzarella out of my pot!! I left this pot to the last! Thought I’d look up a cleaning tip and found yours!! And it worked!!! At 71, you certainly taught this old dog s new trick!! Thank you so much!! 😆
Oh my gosh this was so helpful! I grabbed our dishes/pan from last night’s dinner, tried to clean the cheesy mess, decided instead to soak with hot soapy water, hopped online for tips on how to clean them without gunking up the sponge, read your site and immediately ran back to the sink, dumped out the hot water, ran cold water and used my fingers and the cheese just came off so easily! I used the sponge for the last tiny bits. I have been doing it wrong all these years! My mind is blown, thanks so much!
Hi Melissa. Thanks for the great tip! It was absolutely thinking outside the box for me! I was always using hot water to clean cause I thought that’s better. I tried your way tonight and it was so easy to clean and left no mess on the brush. Thanks! 🙂
Great tip, Melissa! I recently discovered Scotch Brite Stay Clean sponges (purple) – they are amazing – eggs & cheese don’t get gummed up on the scrubber side.

Same here…just going to do now
Soak the dish in hot water, dawn and ammonia. No scrubbing needed?
