Tip of the Week Friday, September 7, 2012 If a recipe calls for cake flour, don’t run to the store just yet. You can make your own by combining 3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons all purpose flour with 2 tablespoons corn, tapioca, or potato starch. Recipe yields one cup. —Ashlae, Oh, Ladycakes Tagged with → baking • cake flour • corn • cornstarch • oh ladycakes • potato starch • starch • substitute • tapioca • tapioca starch • tip of the week 5 comments | Categories (tip),Tip of the Week

Very cool. I didn’t know that! Good little trick to have up your sleeve.
I made a tasty mistake when making cake flour once. I accidentally did 3/4 cup flour and 1/4 cup cornstarch. The cake still turned out beautifully.
